Streaming Guide March 16 – March 22

via What’s New In Streaming For The Next Seven Days — DeciderTV

At the moment nothing really matters because I just watched the RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars 3 finale and it was amazing (at least I think it was, Drag Race twitter seems to disagree which is fine. I’m new to the show and I have a lot to learn). This is a preview space, so no spoilers. I need there to be a reunion show because this group of queens was fantastic, and it can’t be over yet. Season 10 starts next Friday and I’m not ready for this season to be over yet – it’s the first season I’ve watched live, which definitely impacts how I feel about it. Speaking of RuPaul’s Drag Race, there are also new episodes of The Trixie and Katya Show up on SBS OnDemand, which I found out about as I was putting the guide together.

I thought it was going to be a quiet week but there’s still a lot on – and there are quite a few finales on Foxtel, which is going to make next week’s “Weekly Episodes” section a little easier. It’s still quieter than last week when I was rushing to finish season 2 of Jessica Jones and excited about Terrace House: Opening New Doors (Tsubasa!) and Annihilation. I’m thrilled that Annihilation is getting a positive reception outside of the U.S. and that we’re all annoyed about not being able to see it at the cinema. Until next week! I have a lot of The Good Fight to catch up on.

Thanks to the Emerging Writers Festival newsletter, I learned that ACMI is hosting Series Mania Melbourne | A Free Festival of New TV this weekend. It started today (Thursday), and ACMI is hosting a series of free screenings for upcoming shows, as well as a keynote talk with Vince Gilligan, which had sold out by the time I’d learned that the festival was even on.

A note about the screenings: You can make some educated guesses (and I have a bunch of press releases and a giant spreadsheet), but it’s not clear. Also before you get too excited, Get Krack!n by Kates McLennan and McCarthy of The Katering Show is also sold out. It will be on ABC later this year.

I’d never heard of Series Mania, but it’s a French festival that aims to be television’s answer to Cannes. It began in Paris, and is moving to Lille next year. Series Mania has been brought to Melbourne by Forum des Images, and is sponsored by ACMI and film Victoria, as reported by Variety. It’s the first time Series Mania has been to another country, and I hope it continues to both expand and return to Melbourne.
